Quick answer

Do You Need Pakistan High Commission Attestation in Singapore?

No. Since Pakistan joined the Hague Apostille Convention on 9 March 2023, an apostille for Pakistan from the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL) replaces Pakistan High Commission attestation for Singapore documents. The SAL apostille is the final Singapore step — confirm with the receiving authority in Pakistan before you submit.

Singapore government documents SAL can verify — birth and marriage certificates, degrees from NUS, NTU and other local universities — go straight to SAL for SGD 10.70 each. Private documents, such as a power of attorney, need a Notary Public first. See our SAL apostille service in Singapore for the full process.

Not sure which route applies to your document? Send us a photo — we confirm before you pay.

Why Documents for Pakistan Get Turned Away at SAL

Laminated originals

SAL cannot apostille a laminated document. We help you get a fresh extract, or SAL can apostille an SAL-made copy for SGD 11.77 if the recipient in Pakistan accepts copies.

Power of attorney signed at home

A POA for property or bank matters in Pakistan must be signed in front of a Notary Public before SAL can authenticate it. We arrange the signing and the SAL step together.

Private or international school certificates

SAL cannot verify these directly — they need notarisation first. MOE-letterhead certificates and local university degrees can go straight to SAL.

Digital certificates with a faulty QR code

The printout must match the online version exactly and the QR code must scan. We print, test and check before SAL.

Apostille for Pakistan — FAQs

Does Pakistan accept apostilles from Singapore?

Pakistan is a member of the Hague Apostille Convention, in force since 9 March 2023, so an SAL apostille replaces Pakistan High Commission legalisation. Confirm with the receiving authority in Pakistan before you submit.

How much does an apostille for Pakistan cost in Singapore?

SAL charges SGD 10.70 per Singapore government document it can verify. Notarised documents add a SGD 75 notarial certificate and SGD 87.20 SAL authentication; our fee starts from SGD 35 per document (from SGD 199 when a notary step is needed), quoted all-in.

How long does an apostille for Pakistan take?

The SAL counter works on a walk-in basis, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. Our turnaround is 1–2 working days for documents SAL can verify directly, including when a notary is needed first.

Do I need a notary before the apostille?

Only for private documents — a power of attorney, employment letter or private school certificate. Singapore birth and marriage certificates and local university degrees SAL can verify go straight to SAL.

How do I make a power of attorney in Singapore for property in Pakistan?

Sign the POA in front of a Notary Public in Singapore, then SAL authenticates it with an apostille (SGD 87.20, paid at the notary). Confirm the wording the office in Pakistan requires before signing.

Can someone collect the apostille for me?

Yes. SAL accepts a proxy without an authorisation letter, unless the document can only be verified through your own SingPass or email. We go on your behalf.

Can SAL apostille a Pakistani document?

No. SAL only legalises Singapore documents; it does not apostille documents issued in Pakistan or any other country.

Are you the Singapore Academy of Law or the Pakistan High Commission?

No. We are an independent Singapore document service that prepares documents and takes them to SAL for you.
