Quick answer
Do You Need a Marriage Certificate Apostille in Singapore?
A Singapore marriage certificate apostille is the certificate the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL) attaches to a Registry of Marriages (ROM) certificate so it can be used in a Hague Apostille Convention country such as India, the UK, Australia, China or the Philippines. SAL verifies an ROM-issued certificate directly, with no notary step, for SGD 10.70 per document. Confirm any further requirements with the receiving authority.
If the country is outside the Convention — for example the UAE for a family visa — the certificate also needs embassy attestation in Singapore after SAL.
Tell us the country and the purpose on WhatsApp — we'll confirm the steps before you pay.
Why Marriage Certificates Get Delayed at SAL
Digital certificate printed wrongly
A digital marriage certificate must be printed exactly — header, footer, page numbers and borders — and its QR code must scan and match the online version. We print and test it first through our digital document apostille service.
Laminated certificate
SAL cannot apostille a laminated document. If yours is laminated, the option is an apostille on an SAL-made copy (SGD 11.77), but only if your recipient accepts copies.
Verification tied to your login
If the certificate can only be verified through your own SingPass or email, SAL needs you at the counter. We tell you before you travel to Coleman Street.
Not enough apostilled copies
Visa, name change and registration may each need their own apostilled certificate. We check how many you need before we go, so you don't queue twice.
