Quick answer
Do You Need a Divorce Certificate Apostille?
A divorce certificate apostille in Singapore is the certificate the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL) attaches to your final judgment or certificate of making interim judgment final, so an overseas authority can accept it for remarriage, a name change or civil records. SAL is the only authority that legalises Singapore documents for overseas use, and it does so only when it can verify the court document. It is part of our SAL apostille service in Singapore.
For a Hague Apostille Convention country (for example India, China, the Philippines, Japan, the UK or the USA), the apostille is the last Singapore step — confirm any further requirements with the receiving authority. For a non-Hague country such as Malaysia, the UAE or Qatar, embassy attestation in Singapore follows the SAL step.

Why Divorce Papers Get Stuck at the SAL Counter
SAL cannot verify the copy you hold
Court documents are Singapore public documents, so SAL can legalise them directly — but only when it can verify them, for example through a physical endorsement, a working QR code or confirmation from the issuing agency. If your copy can't be verified that way, we route it through a Notary Public first, so the trip isn't wasted.
The wrong document
An interim judgment may not meet a request for proof that the divorce is final. We check whether you hold the final judgment or the certificate of making interim judgment final, and match it to what your receiving authority has asked for.
Laminated or altered originals
SAL cannot apostille a laminated document. We tell you whether a fresh certified copy or an SAL-made copy is the better route.
Digital printouts that don't match
A digital court document must be printed exactly as issued, with a QR code that still scans. We print, test and check it before SAL sees it.
Only you can verify it
If a document can only be checked through your own SingPass or email, SAL needs you in person. We tell you upfront.
